"What I Need is All Around Me!"

I'm lucky. Lucky in life to have friends and family that treat me so well and are there whenever I need them. Through ups and downs, thick and thin...I'm lucky to be surrounded with love.

I've been celebrating my 29th birthday with said friends and family. Yesterday, Alyson came to visit. We shopped, dined, and then went to see Brad play drums at Rockfish, here in Annapolis. We rang in my 29th, with drinks on Rockfish's lush leather couches listening to the soft acoustic stylings of Brad and Chris. It was done quietly and with sophistication, as it should for a person about to reach 30!

Today, my co-workers treated me to gifts and lunch.

Then, lovely Julie, treated me to a fantastic dinner at a grown-up restaurant. Quiet and good company are always at the top of my list and it could not have been better. Food was great and I got to enjoy the company and conversation of a friend I have had for over a decade. It is amazing to know that there can be constants in your life. That through ten years, there has been someone to watch you grow and change and still appreciate you for the person you were as much as for the person you have become. Julie and I have gone through high school and college together, and are navigating this maze through adulthood side-by-side as friends. She is the most caring and giving person in the world and I rely on her to be my confidant, my friend, and my surrogate sister! To know someone is there through it all is a blessing and I am truly grateful for her friendship.

Best of all, my roommate gave me the most beautiful bouquet of roses and orchids to commemorate this special day. The roses are yellow, to symbolize friendship. I'm truly fortunate to have hers. She has, over the years, become my one of the most important people in my life, very few others share that circle with her. She is a rock and I would be a lesser person had she not come into my life.

So, to the four of you who read this...know I count you in my deepest regard. Thank you for being there for this birthday and for being there through previous others. (ok, enough sap!)
