So, my mother asked me what has happened in my life since I last posted...Well, the answer is....Life! Work began and summer ended and I was tired. Therefore, no blogging occurred. However, to appease her and the other three that read this I will laboriously discuss the events that have taken place. Because my mind is failing me, these random thoughts will expel from me in no particular order.
1. Well Lucinda's cat, Nikita, has been very ill. I found him on Sunday night, where he was very lethargic and weak. Tuesday, after no inkling of getting better, I brought him to the vet. Lucinda, in NY, was talking to me at every moment. Needless to say, 'Kita was "one sick kitty," according to Dr. Bob. He had a urethreal obstruction which wouldn't allow him to urinate. In other words, his kidneys were failing and he was septic. He was rushed to the vet ER where he was anesthesized and given a catheter. We got to pick him up last night and he seems to be doing well. He still isn't eating much but he is much more responsive so keep poor 'Kita Bear in your thoughts.
2. I spent the same weekend taking care of 'Kita doing other things. Specifically, Jule and I hung out! My co-worker, Rosemary, is a retired military officer who has season tickets to the Navy football games and I bought the tickets for the Navy vs. UMass game. Her seats are indescribable. She is in row J on the 47 yard line. Needless to say we could witness everything and hear every hit and scrape that occurred. Navy games are fantastic, with a lot of pomp and circumstance. They often introduce their cadets then there is a flyover. I think they use F-14s Dad, but I could be wrong. Because the game was close to September 11th, both the Navy Band and the UMass band paid tribute to our troops. UMass played a nice rendition of "Proud to be an American." Very moving to see the cadets singing every word. After a 21-20 win by Navy, Jule and I took the opportunity to enjoy the weather and picked crabs at Mike's in Riva. We sat outside on the deck...Perfection. To quote Wedding Crashers...."Crabs and football, that's what Maryland is all about!"
More will follow...Especially about my trip to NC but my hands are tired and I have homemade soup on the stove!
